Family Therapy

(50 – 55 minute session)

Family therapy involves all members of the family (when possible) to address issues of family structure, responsibility, coexistence and problem solving. Family therapy could encompass as few as two individuals, parent & child or siblings. Sessions may be further divided into partial time increments to hear each person’s individual points of view.

Couples / Marital Therapy

(50 – 55 minute session)

Designed for the couple to assist them in improving communication skills, problem solving strategies, and healthy coping skills. There will be exercises, role playing, possibly video instruction. The format is didactic in nature and each session is used for development of the previously mentioned skill areas. Couples attend together.

Sex Therapy

Many people come to sex therapy after individual psychotherapy fails to help them with their sexual problems. Sex therapists tailor the treatment to the person(s) before them.  Sex therapy views sexual issues as being resolved by specifically addressing them, rather than by the assumption that when the individuals in a relationship work out the relationship issues, the sex will just fall into place.

Intervention

( Minimum of 2 hours; one hour travel + one hour therapy session)
This is typically an in-home intervention led by a licensed therapist to assist the family to confront and motivate a loved one to seek help for their addiction or mental health problem. Because of their defensiveness these individuals do not see their destructive behavior or the course they are on and would not seek treatment without intervention.
The intervention specialist meets with family and friends of the identified individual at the therapy office to obtain a history of the problem, strategies are made to rectify the problem and plan for the intervention itself.
